Prince George 7-Eleven Store’s Donations Help Support PGCPS Schools, Initiatives

May 23, 2022

Following their late-2021 donation to William A. Walton Elementary School and its music department, the management team of Prince George County’s recently opened 7-Eleven store have further bolstered its support of local schools through additional contributions to Prince George County Public Schools’ programs and initiatives.

On Monday, May 16, 2022, 7-Eleven Area Leader Jody Sauls and Store Leader Jamil Siddiqui presented a $2,000 check to Walton Elementary during the Prince George School Board’s regular meeting as part of the convenience store chain’s Project-A-Game program. The initiative helps provide meaningful youth development opportunities through education and play to help children establish a strong foundation that supports their future success. Grants provided jointly by local franchisees and 7-Eleven are used to support local schools, youth sports organizations, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.

The funds donated to Walton Elementary will be used to support programs at the school. This is the store’s second Project-A-Game donation to Walton Elementary following their November 2021 contribution of $711 benefiting Walton’s music education program.

“We appreciate the support of 7-Eleven and it was nice of Jody to consider us,” Walton Elementary School Principal Chrystal Barnwell said. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”

“Walton Elementary School and Prince George County Public Schools have been great as this is the second time we have been able to present something to the school,” Sauls said. “Principal Barnwell has been a fantastic partner to work with. You have open minds and are willing to let us experiment and try new things to better the community where we all live.”

In addition to the store’s donations, their management team supported the school district’s highly successful Little Feet Meet event on Wednesday, April 20, serving as a sponsor of the event. The Little Feet Meet brought students with and without intellectual disabilities together for a day of fellowship as they competed in various events and represented their schools.

The store has also announced plans for ‘Spirit Nights,’ where a portion of their sales will be donated to Walton Elementary, the first of which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25. A similar event is planned in support of the county’s Special Olympics program.

The Prince George 7-Eleven store is located at 4525 County Drive between Rives Road and Interstate 295.
