Meet Our Superintendent: Lisa Pennycuff, Ed.D.
 
Dr. Lisa Pennycuff currently serves as Prince George County Public Schools' Superintendent of Schools following her appointment to the position by the Prince George School Board on April 29, 2019, succeeding Renee Williams in the role. Dr. Pennycuff served as PGCPS' Assistant Superintendent of Instruction from 2015 through 2019. 
 
Her journey to Prince George County carried her through The College of William & Mary, where she earned her Master of Education in Special Education and Teaching and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration, and the York County School Division, where she served as an assistant principal, principal, and the school district's Director of Accountability and Instructional Services.
Acting Superintendent: Joseph O. Cox, Ed.D.
 
 On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Prince George County School Board selected Dr. Joseph O. Cox, Jr. to serve as Prince George County Public Schools’ acting superintendent effective Monday, May 6, 2024, following the announced retirement of Superintendent Dr. Lisa Pennycuff.
 
Dr. Cox most recently served as superintendent for Colonial Heights Public Schools, leading the district for 18 years and becoming the longest serving superintendent in the district's history. Dr. Cox has also served as an acting superintendent in the City of Colonial Heights and Nelson County during his career.
