Upcoming Meeting: Special Education Advisory Committee of PGCPS Scheduled to Meet Sept. 11

The Special Education Advisory Committee of Prince George County Public Schools will hold its next meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The meeting will be held at the Prince George County School Board Office, located at 6410 Courts Drive, Prince George, Va., 23875 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

What is the Special Education Advisory Committee of Prince George County Public Schools?

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) of the Prince George County Public Schools is organized and functions in accordance with state and federal requirements. SEAC members are volunteers who are appointed by the School Board to serve for one-year terms. The primary responsibilities of the committee include:

  1. Advise the School Board of needs in the education of students with disabilities;
  2. Participate in the development of priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of students with disabilities;
  3. Submit periodic reports and recommendations regarding the education of students with disabilities to the School Board through the Superintendent;
  4. Assist in interpreting plans to the community for meeting the special needs of students with disabilities for educational services;
  5. Review policies and procedures for the provision of special education and related services prior to submission to the School Board; and
  6. Participate in the review of the Annual Special Education Plan prior to submission to the School Board.
