Please Share What You Are Most Proud Of In Your Service To the Community As A Member of Our School Board.
Being a part of the school board is challenging and rewarding at the same time. I am very passionate about education and how important an education is to our students.  Seeing former students at sport events hug former teachers and say what an impact the teacher made on their life proves we have amazing teachers. Attracting highly qualified teachers for our students is a great part of my service.

What Is Your Favorite Aspect Of Being A School Board Member?
Of all the time spent on Prince George County School Board my ultimate favorite is watching our students graduate.  There is something about being “allowed the honor” to enjoy watching the seniors talk with each other while they line up for the “graduation walk” for the last time as a student through the halls of Prince George County High School, having ALL traffic stopped for our seniors to cross the road to the football field, and being in the graduation march as the Commencement is played.  Oh my I get goose bumps remembering my days of high school, college and graduate school.  Watching our seniors wave to their families in the stands and the families yelling out their names.  So much pride on both sides of that conversation.  So much work, sweat and tears that have gone into those 13/14 years on both sides – both students and parents deserve this moment.  And I get the honor in being a part of that.  Then comes the time each student is recognized for their decision to go into the workplace, military or college, by being asked to stand up and everyone cheers for them.  Watching each student walk up on the stage, having their name called out and receiving their diploma.  As they exit the other side of the stage, as a board member we are afforded the pleasure of shaking the hand of a Prince George “high school graduate”.  After each one individually has been recognized by name they are asked to all rise at their seat then Dr. Pennycuff says something along the lines of “now by the power of the State of Virginia and the Department of Education” you may turn your tassel. Oh my goodness parents I am right there with you beaming with pride.  Thank each of you – students and families – for allowing me the privilege of being a part of all this.

What Goals And Aspirations Do You Have As A Member Of The Prince George School Board?
My goal as being a part of the Board is to help our children that are struggling emotionally. If we can teach our children to read and write, do complicated assignments and decided if the workplace, military or college best fits their futures then we MUST develop a way to help our children that are struggling emotionally.  If one student is struggling it not only affects them but their fellow peers, teachers, and administrators.  We need to concentrate on this goal and develop a strategy that help our students.  We can save students times and teachers from leaving the profession.

When You Are Not Involved In School Board Activities, How Do You Spend Your Free Time?
I do not have a lot of free time with a demanding full time career.  But when I do have time I love spending time with my son - my pride and joy. He is a blessing from the Lord Jesus Christ and I take great pride in being his mother.  I also like to do mission work.  I have spend many hours giving back to others and my son always served beside me. It is very important that he understands how blessed we are and how many less fortunate need to receive our help.  My goal when I retire is to spend many hours volunteering with Send Relief and Samaritans Purse and fostering senior dogs.  My heart is so full and I am truly blessed.

Do You Have A Favorite Teacher? Please Share Who They Are, If They Were Prince George Educators, And A Little About Them As You Reflect on What Their Impact on You Was.
I had many favorite teachers that brought out the best in me.  Some of my favorite were the ones that were the toughest hardest teachers that challenged me.  I worked very had for them and did my best work.  I liked the challenge and thrived.
