Local contracting company Mueller Builders, LLC continued its tradition of giving back to the Prince George community through its latest roof giveaway, selecting Prince George High School teacher Mrs. Sherry Leys to receive a free roof replacement following an outpouring of community nominations.

According to Mueller Builders, The giveaway, which launched in early June of this year, was designed to honor current full-time public servants of Prince George County, including teachers, firefighters, police, and staff, who own homes in need of essential repairs. Mrs. Leys was nominated by an overwhelming number of community members who highlighted her hardworking spirit, active involvement in her church, and endless dedication to her students.

In early September, Mrs. Leys was surprised with the news she had won this year’s giveaway after receiving a tremendous response of support from those she has served through her work and community service. As the grand prize winner, she will receive a full roof replacement in the coming weeks, including all materials and labor, featuring high-quality, durable shingles.

In May 2025, Mueller Builders hosted a similar roof giveaway for members of the Prince George County Public Schools community. After receiving nominations from the division’s staff, a panel of Mueller Builders staff ultimately decided to provide two free roofs to a pair of school support staff employees, custodians Mr. Herman Brown and Mr. Calvin Gilchrist, after being moved by the support for both individuals.
