Educational Technology & PGCPS

Prince George County Public Schools utilizes a variety of educational technology (EdTech) resources, digital instructional platforms, cloud-based applications, and online services to support student learning, communication, assessment, creativity, collaboration, and digital citizenship.

Our district believes student use of educational technology should be purposeful, active, and meaningfully connected to instruction while helping make learning accessible to all students. With a focus on quality over quantity, technology should be used in ways that advance learning safely, responsibly, and effectively.

PGCPS Technology Resources and Internet Safety Use Guidelines

This resource provide students, families, staff, and other authorized users with information about the safe, responsible, and educational use of division technology. The document also outlines the division’s educational technology goals and objectives and provides information about the optional Chromebook Protection Plan available to families.

At-A-Glance: PGCPS Educational Technology Resources

Prince George County Schools recognizes that technology resources, Internet access, digital communication systems, and online instructional tools support teaching, learning, communication, innovation, and operational efficiency throughout the school division. These resources may include, but are not limited to:

  • Google Workspace for Education services includes Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, and related tools. Google provides information about the information it collects, as well as how it uses and discloses the information it collects from Google Workspace for Education accounts in its Google Workspace for Education Privacy Notice. 

  • Online platforms that provide students and teachers with a central place to access instructional materials, assignments, learning activities, grades, feedback, and other classroom resources. Examples of platforms utilized by Prince George County Public Schools include: Canvas, Google Classroom.

  • Digital resources that provide students with instructional content, lessons, activities, assessments, and other materials that support classroom instruction and learning. Examples of platforms utilized by Prince George County Public Schools include: Apex Learning, Canva, Discovery, Education, SOL Pass.

  • Prince George County Public Schools maintains an active list of websites, applications, and platforms that have been or are currently being evaluated for use by students and staff in the division’s schools.

    This is a dynamic list and may change throughout the school year as new websites, applications, and platforms are evaluated, added, or removed in accordance with the division’s educational technology guidelines, district regulations, and School Board policies.

    Prince George County Public Schools reviews instructional technology resources for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Student Chromebooks

Prince George County Public Schools provides each student with a division-issued Chromebook and charger to help support learning and provide access to digital resources at school and, when appropriate, at home.

Families can learn more about caring for their student’s Chromebook, the optional Chromebook Protection Plan, what to do if a device is lost or damaged, and any associated fees by reviewing the PGCPS Technology Resources and Internet Safety Use Guidelines.


 

PGCPS Approved Educational Technology Applications

The websites, applications, and digital platforms used by Prince George County Public Schools can be reviewed at the divsion’s public ClassLink portal. These may change throughout the school year as resources are reviewed, approved, added, or removed. All instructional technology resources are evaluated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, division educational technology guidelines, district regulations, and School Board policies.
