Remote Learning Days

Remote Learning Days

During a school year, Prince George County Public Schools may use Remote Learning Days in response to unplanned closures caused by inclement weather or other emergencies. While not a substitute for in-person learning, remote (at-home) learning will allow students to remain engaged with instruction while away from school due to the closure.

Remote Learning Days Overview & Expectations

Grades Pre-K-3: Students in these grades will receive paper packets prior to leaving school before an expected remote learning day. The students are expected to complete their packet and return it to their teacher upon completion once school reopens.

  • Teachers will hold office hours from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the remote learning day where they will be accessible via email to answer questions and provide support for students.

Grades 4-12: Students in these grades will complete the work they downloaded to their Chromebook while at school prior to the remote learning day during this time. Students will have to submit their completed remote learning day assignments within seven school days to their teacher(s).

  • Teachers will be available virtually via Google Classroom to answer questions and provide support for students during the remote learning day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In addition, learning specialists, elementary (Pre-K-5) resource teachers, and school counselors will hold office hours from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the remote learning day where they will be accessible via email to answer questions and provide support for students.

Students will have up to seven (7) school days after returning to campus to submit work from the Remote Learning Day, and assignments will be graded for correctness. Teachers will continue to support students by answering questions and helping them complete any unfinished work once school is back in session, and students with disabilities will receive any needed make-up services.

As a reminder, on Remote Learning Days, teachers are available for support through scheduled virtual office hours, Google Meet sessions and email to provide clarity, instruction, and support for students.
