Employers Connect with Next-Gen Workforce During Prince George High's Third-Annual Career Fair Event

Hundreds of Prince George High School students were able to get valuable face time with dozens of local employers and learn more about educational opportunities during the school's third career fair.
The school's gymnasium was the venue for the morning-long event on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, with students traveling between tables staffed by various local and national businesses, state agencies, military representatives, and more. The room was buzzing as students and employers had thoughtful conversations with the school’s tenth through twelfth graders, asking questions and taking part in unique demonstrations and activities.

Among the hands-on experiences, students were able to learn about life-saving equipment utilized by first responders from Prince George County Fire and EMS and VCU Health System. Outside, students learned about flight through the Virginia Department of Aviation’s mobile lab, outfitted with a plane they were able to explore the cockpit of with guidance from the department’s representatives.
In addition to opportunities to interface with business operators and managers, students could explore trades and pathways to the U.S. armed forces, as well as Prince George High School's Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings. From Teachers for Tomorrow, the school's successful program developing the next generation of educators, to sports and event management, and career, community, and family connections, dozens of students learned about these high-quality learning experiences from classmates who are actively involved.
Following the positive reception from businesses and students alike last year, Prince George County Public Schools Career and Technical Education Coordinator Mrs. Ashton Girolmo and event organizers brought back the bingo-style challenge for students to participate in and foster more engagement. During their time at the fair, students used their bingo card, which included a mix of questions to ask and activities to take part in, and received marks from presenters throughout the event. Completed bingo cards were entered into a drawing for prizes as they exited the fair.
This week's career fair, along with a similar college fair event featuring a variety of local and regional colleges and university representatives on site at Prince George High School later this month is a key part of Prince George High School's Career Readiness Initiative. This initiative is a coordinated effort to help students explore, plan, and take actionable steps toward their post-graduation goals, whether that means enrollment, employment, or enlistment. Within the initiative, there are two stages: an exploration stage and a later preparation and action stage. Events like career fairs, college fairs, and field trips to the campuses of Brightpoint Community College and Rowanty Technical Center provide opportunities to explore options for their future and connect what they're learning at school with future opportunities.
The initiative aims to ensure that every Prince George student graduates with a clear plan, along with the confidence, connections, and credentials needed to succeed, regardless of which of the 3E's they choose: Enrollment, Employment, or Enlistment.
