Comprehensive Plan
Prince George County Public Schools' Comprehensive Plan 2022-27 represents the division's commitment to planning and an ongoing assessment of its programs. The foundations of the plan is based on and is reflective of the mandates of the Virginia Standards of Quality, the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia, the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education act and the Mission and Vision of PGCPS.
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
Virginia Code §22.1-253.13:6 requires public school divisions to develop a comprehensive, unified long-range plan based on data collection, an analysis of the data, and how the data will be utilized to improve classroom instruction and student achievement.
This plan is to be developed with staff and community involvement and shall include, or be consistent with, all other division-wide plans required by state and federal laws and regulations. The plan is required to include the following components:
- Objectives
- Assessment of Achievement
- Enrollment Forecast
- Plan for Projecting and Managing Enrollment Changes
- Evaluation of Regional Programs
- Technology Plan
- Needs Assessment
- Corrective Action Plan (If Required)
A report is to be presented by each school board to the public by November 1 of each odd-numbered year on the extent to which the objectives of the division-wide comprehensive plan have been met during the previous two school years.
Community Involvement
As part of the Comprehensive Plan, the community is engaged as part of an assessment of the needs of the school division and evidence of community participation, including parental participation, in the development of the plan. Additionally, the plan must include a Family Engagement Plan that details efforts to foster parent and family involvement. This plan would include strategies for building successful school and parent partnerships that will be developed with both staff and community involvement, including parental participation.

10.11.21 - Final Approved 2022-27 Comprehensive Planning Posted to Website
On October 12, 2021, Prince George County Public Schools' Final Approved 2022-27 Comprehensive Plan was posted to the school division's website for public to view.
7.12.21 - Draft 2022-27 Comprehensive Planning Posted to Website
On July 12, 2021, Prince George County Public Schools' Draft 2022-27 Comprehensive Plan was posted to the school division's website for public to view. The document will be presented to the Prince George School Board for discussion on Wednesday, July 14 during their regular meeting.

6.8.21 - Comprehensive Planning Committee Presentation to School Board
On June 7, 2021, Prince George County Public Schools' Comprehensive Planning Committee delivered an update to the Prince George School Board regarding the development of the district's 2022-2027 Comprehensive Plan. The district's vision and mission, along with draft goals and objectives were presented.

6.7.21 - Comprehensive Planning Committee Update to School Board
On June 7, 2021, Prince George County Public Schools' Comprehensive Planning Committee will provide an update to the Prince George School Board regarding the development of the district's 2022-2027 Comprehensive Plan. The presentation will take place during the Board's regular meeting at Prince George High School at 6:30 p.m.

3.24.21 - Survey of the PGCPS Community Complete
Prince George County Public Schools completed its 'Survey of the PGCPS Community' in mid-March. The information gleaned from the survey will help in developing goals and strategies as we develop our 2022-2027 Comprehensive Plan.
An update on the Plan's development was presented to the Prince George School Board on March 18, 2021.
