Winter sports season is quickly approaching! As our student-athletes prepare for another exciting season of competition, families are encouraged to review important eligibility requirements, athletic physical submission deadlines, and upcoming tryout schedules.

Tryouts for winter sports will begin Monday, November 9, 2026, with opportunities available for eligible students across several sports programs.

Winter Sports Eligibility Requirements
To participate in winter sports, student-athletes must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Athletic Physical: Students must have a current Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical completed after May 1, 2026, and uploaded to the Athletic Portal.
• Physical Submission Deadline: All athletic physicals must be uploaded by 7 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026. The Athletic Portal will close at that time.
• Academic Eligibility: Students must have passed the equivalent of five courses during the spring semester and must be enrolled in the equivalent of five courses for the fall semester.
• Eighth-Grade Participation: Eighth-grade students are eligible to try out for junior varsity (JV) and middle school sports teams.
• Sixth- and Seventh-Grade Participation: Students in sixth and seventh grades may participate only on middle school sports teams.

Families are strongly encouraged to complete all required documentation before the November 6 deadline to ensure their student-athletes are eligible to participate in tryouts.

Winter Sports Tryout Schedule
Student-athletes are expected to attend their scheduled tryouts in their entirety. Any exceptions must be approved in advance by the respective team's head coach.

The following tryout dates, times, and locations have been established for the upcoming winter sports season.

Boys Basketball (JV & Varsity)

• Dates: November 9–11, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: Prince George High School Gymnasium
• Additional Information: Eighth-grade students interested in trying out for JV boys basketball should attend tryouts on Monday, November 9.

Middle School Boys Basketball

• Dates: November 9, 10, 12, and 13, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: J.E.J. Moore Middle School

Girls Basketball (JV & Varsity)

• Dates: November 9, 10, 12, and 13, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: N.B. Clements Junior High School Gymnasium

Courtside Cheer

• Dates: November 9–10, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: Prince George High School Auxiliary Gymnasium

Swimming

• Dates: November 9–10, 2026
• Time: 5:30–7:30 p.m.
• Location: Daniel Gymnasium, Virginia State University
• Additional Information: A representative will be available during tryouts to assist student-athletes with swimsuit sizing.

Boys & Girls Indoor Track

• Dates: November 9–10, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: Prince George High School Stadium

Wrestling

• Dates: November 9–12, 2026
• Time: 3–5 p.m.
• Location: Prince George High School Fieldhouse
